Hearing Health Foundation PSAs

by | Feb 3, 2025

For over 65 years the Hearing Health Foundation has been raising awareness about, and funding research to prevent, hearing loss, tinnitus, hyperacusis and related conditions. The most common source of hearing conditions is exposure to loud sounds. Noise induced hearing loss is 100% preventable.

Many people, including myself, knew little about hearing conditions, risks and preventive measures, until we experienced a permanent irreversible hearing impairment. If only we had this information before injury! Furthermore, much of the scientific research and information on hearing loss is presented in written format, providing detailed analysis and links to source material for peer review and discussion.

HHF addressed this by producing Public Service Announcements to both inform Americans about hearing conditions, and how to protect themselves before hearing loss. These PSAs are excellent short pieces that are easily accessible to the public, many of whom prefer information in a visual format.

I was pleasantly surprised to see some of them airing on local broadcast television, giving the general public an opportunity to be informed before they lose one of their most precious senses…the ability to appreciate the rich fullness and subtle complexity of natural sound.

Below are links to four of them.
